The Bird that Cannot Fly Ch. 22

XXII.

I needed help quick. Holding my head and pulling myself alongside the tiled walls, I forced myself out into the deserted hallway. The awards hall was now completely silent. The distant sound of the clock’s ticking set pace to my feet as they moved me down the hall. I needed someone’s help.

For lord’s sake, luck was with me that day. Collen came out around the corner, skipping class like always. Of course, being genius that he was, he knew something was wrong.

He ran up and caught me right as my legs buckled below. My nausea didn’t allow me to respond to any matter, but Collen picked me up and carried me. The beige and the awards and the fluorescent lights spun before my eyes, then, I saw nothing.
